一、审题

大学英语四六级考试的作文要求或给出题目, 或规定情景, 或要求看图作文, 或给出每一段的第一句话要求续写, 或给出关键词要求写成短文。 作文的要求多种多样, 但一般都是给定作文的大体写作形式或提纲, 所以审题时要注意作文题目要求的具体内容, 才能有的放矢。

如2015年6月的四六级作文都是一幅图, 图中的内容都是展现了一种不良社会现象, 首先要求对这幅图进行描述, 然后对所给图的内容进行评价。 这道题其实已经很明确地说明了文章的写作形式, 即是一篇议论文, 作文的提纲也已给出, 即第一段对图的内容进行简单的描述, 第二段对图中所反映的现象的原因进行分析, 最后一段是自己的观点, 即解决问题的方法。 在审题过程中, 首先要抓住题目的主要内容, 如刚才所说的看图作文, 就必须分析图中所反映的现象是好的还是坏的。 如果把不良的社会现象当成是好的社会现象, 那么作文写得再好, 也不可能得到满意的成绩

三、修改

文章写完以后, 并不是万事大吉了, 而是要从头开始检查, 检查文章中错误的单词和语法。 虽然四六级的作文题采用总体评分方法, 即阅卷人员就总的印象给出奖励分, 而不是按语言点的错误数目扣分, 但如果文章中单词和语法出现的错误较多, 即使文章写得再好, 阅卷者也不会给以高分, 所以在检查修改过程中必须认真把失误降到最低。 但是一般来说, 此时不应对句子进行大的修改, 一方面是由于时间比较紧, 没有更多的时间思考作文内容, 另一方面是由于如果修改太多, 就可能影响整个卷面的美观, 如果太乱, 效果就适得其反。 所以, 在最后的检查阶段, 要有所侧重, 争取卷面干净整洁, 语言流畅得体, 以期取得最好成绩

一、引言

全国大学生英语四六级考试自1987年诞生至今已经走过了29年历程,期间先后经历了六次改革。它是对我国在校大学生英语能力是否达到《教学要求》的主要鉴定手段;其每一次改革都会引起社会极大关注,带来高校英语教学一次次新探索。当然,对于四六级考试社会上也一直存有质疑之声,认为其过于强调应试技巧的“专”,而不是日常使用的“专”,考试高分不代表运用得好;每次改革也只是“换汤不换药”,不能从根本上解决大学生“哑巴英语”的现状,徒增英语四六级的考试难度,进而质疑其存在的意义。

笔者从事大学英语教学多年,认为大学英语四六级考试具有极大合理性,对应英语教学具有“指挥”作用,对于促进学生自主学习有极大鞭策作用,对于其专业课学习也有很大益处。

二、大学英语四六级改革历史回顾

大学英语四级六级考试分别始于1987年9月和1989年1月,截止到2016年6月,先后进行了六次改革:

1.第一次改革。1987年至1995年,四级考试主要考查内容包括:听力理解(20)、阅读理解(40)、词汇及语法(15%)、完形填空(10%)、写作(15%)。1996年改革,启用新题型,听力部分引入复合式听写,完形填空与简单题和翻译题检查出现。此次改革,旨在“促进大学英语教学目标、教学内容与方法、测试手段和语言使用环境的改革,加强学生语言运用能力的培养”。对于这次改革,高校教育界普遍持肯定态度。郑树棠认为,它对分级教学的目的十分明确同时也提高了考试的效度和信度。

2.第二次改革。1999年5月,全国大学英语四六级考试委员会决定在部分城市推行口语考试,四级笔试成绩≥80分或者六级笔试成绩≥75分的学生资格参加。同时,设定作文最低分,作文得分低于设定值,即使总分合格最终成绩也不算及格。

3.第三次改革。此次可谓是大刀阔斧的一次改革。2005年,在高教司的主持和领导下,大学英语四六级考试改革组和考试委员会经过反复研讨和论证,并广泛听取了大学英语第一线教师和学生的意见,制定了《全国大学英语四、六级考试改革方案(试行)》。自 05 年 6 月考试起,四、六级考试成绩将采用满分为 710 分的计分体制,不设及格线;成绩报导方式由考试合格证书改为成绩报告单,即考后向每位考生发放成绩报告单,报导内容包括:总分、单项分等。听力理解、阅读理解、综合测试和写作测试。听力理解部分的比例提高到 35%,其中听力对话占 15%,听力短文占 20%。听力对话部分包括短对话和长对话的听力理解;听力短文部分包括短文听写和选择题型的短文理解;听力题材选用对话、讲座、广播电视节目等更具真实性的材料。阅读理解部分比例调整为 35%,其中仔细阅读部分占 25%,快速阅读部分占 10%。仔细阅读部分除测试篇章阅读理解外,还包括对篇章语境中的词汇理解的测试;快速阅读部分测试各种快速阅读技能。综合测试比例为 15%,由两部分构成。第一部分为完型填空或改错,占 10%;第二部分为短句问答或翻译,占 5%。写作能力测试部分比例为 15%,体裁包括议论文、说明文、应用文等。

4.第四次改革。四六级考试作为单纯测试学生英语综合运用能力的考试,被附加了诸多的社会功能,很多高校把四六级证书与毕业证挂钩,用人单位也将其作为衡量人才的标准。因此,学生考试舞弊时常出现,替考现象也不少见。对此,2010年12月取消了AB卷,改为多题多卷,即考试题目和选项的顺序不同,同一省市有了不同的书卷,同一考场也有不同版本的试卷,一定程度上杜绝了舞弊的产生,端正了考风考纪,使得考试更显公平。

5.第五次改革。2013年8月14日,全国大学英语四六级考试委员会发布,自2013年12月考次起,局部调整四、六级考试的试卷结构和测试题型,完形填空取消,翻译比例明显加重,听力部分的复合式听写变为单词及词组听写,原来的快速理解变为选词填空,并且增加了长篇阅读匹配题,考试时间也增加了10分钟,由原来的120分钟变为130分钟。这次改革意在推动学生更加重视英语的实用能力和综合能力的培养,对于那些死学英语、不重视运用的学生来说是一个挑战。它促使学生学习和教师教学中更加重视英语应用能力,使得作弊和凭运气通过四、六级变得不可能,更能考查出学生真实的英语水平。

6.第六次改革。2015年底,四六级官网公布了一条炸裂性的消息:“四六级听力,从明年6月起,改革”!从2016年6月份开始,调整后的听力形式如下:①四级:短篇新闻3段(分值7%)+长对话2篇(分值8%)+听力篇章3篇(分值20%);②六级:长对话2篇(分值8%)+听力篇章2篇(分值7%)+讲座/讲话3篇(分值20%)。

从改革内容看出,更加接近于高水平的考试,如托福、雅思。的确,对于已经习惯了以前题型的考生来说,是一个坏消息;但是,毕竟改的是题型,而不是解题方法。只要方法正确,全都能迎刃而解,并且还能推着你前进,这是好事。

三、结论

四六级之所以进行频繁改革,根本原因在于不断顺应时代的发展,促进英语学习者的能力能与经济发展的需要相适应。笔者认为四六级的改革,永远没有终止,它会一直随着时代的变化而不断发展,不断改革。

2.主动意识的培养。与词汇、阅读等客观题型相比, 写作部分需要大家充分利用自己的主动性。大家应该明白, 写作的时候, 笔是握在我们自己的手中的, 而且阅卷教师也只可能看到我们作文答题纸上的内容。因此, 我们可以自由地选择我们能力所及的表达形式, 自由地选择我们能够表达的内容, 从而避免自己给自己挖陷阱, 避免自己跟自己过不去。平时多关注社会热点问题和与学生生活相关的话题。熟悉并掌握我们在课堂上反复训练的“万能理由”。课下应该多去尝试运用所学去思考一些常见的话题。写文章时候尽量多用一些四级词汇, 这样也可以提高教师的印象。但不是说你用的词很多, 而写出的句子结构、语法错误太多。这样也会很糟糕的。因此大家一定要注意, 如果自己词汇不怎么多的时候, 你不要用自己不明确和不会拼写的词。还有一定要确保句子的正确性, 尽量避免语法结构的错误。即使你使用的简单句, 但是写得很清楚, 没任何错误, 也可以得到不错的分数。

3.语言亮点的制造。下笔之前就要想到千变万化, 变化多端。试想, 阅卷教师面对一大堆的作文试卷焦头烂额、倦意正浓之际, 突然看到一份三段式的作文, 卷面干净整洁, 语言流畅得体, 他一定会给打高分。大家拿到作文题目之后, 先要仔细阅读题目明确作文的类型。这一点是非常关键的, 因为四级作文相对很强调作文的结构。如果没有一个很清楚的结构, 一定会失去一定的分数。四级作文一般有下面三种结构: 说明文、议论文和应用文写作。说明文主要可以分为阐述主题类型的、利弊类型的、原因结果类型的、解决问题类型的以及谚语说明类型。议论文主要是就观点进行反驳类型的。应用文写作主要包括演讲词、求职求学信、邀请信、感谢信和投诉信等。所以大家必须在平时复习的过程中明确各种类型的写作结构, 这样在考试时候就可以在结构上不会出现任何问题, 也不会因为写跑题而失分。再有就是要注意文章的长度安排, 短的作文一定是不可以的,也就是字数要达到要求。但是长的作文如果几乎每句话都有错误也不能得到好的分数。所以大家一定要注意, 写的时候要长度适中, 确保写出的句子错误很少, 即使观点只是很一般,没什么新的地方, 也能得到相对好的分数。

4.卷面一定要整洁, 字一定要写得漂亮, 这可以在很大程度上影响你们分数的升降。印象分数几乎全部是这個决定的,所以大家也要平时注重HANDWRITING的练习。要写好一篇英语文章, 除注意上述几点个, 关键还是要在平时下功夫, 打好牢固的基础。平时可以坚持用英语写日记,时间久了, 自然就养成了用英语思考的习惯, 写作时便省去了先用汉语想再翻译的时间。考试前几天, 背诵一些经典句型或范文, 这对我们写作有时是有帮助的。
